7:00 PM – Unge Ferrari
Unge Ferrari, one of the most exciting Norwegian newcomers to look out for in 2015, grew up with everything from Craig David, Britney Spears and Usher to G-Unit in his CD player. With his music, he aims to take listeners high and far into space by combining futuristic 808-beats with melodic R&B in the intersection between hip hop and pop. In November 2014, Unge Ferrari signed with Nora Collective, who will support him as both a management and record label on the road to becoming a prominent artist in the Norwegian music scene for years to come. His first project will be an upcoming EP in collaboration with JNS MSC/Soul-Division and Nora’s in-house producers Castiel, AxXe and Filip K.
8:00 PM – Courtesy (DK)
Najaaraq Nicoline Kleist Vestbirk has had a few aliases in her time, most recently she’s settled on Courtesy, a moniker she uses to produce techno that sounds like it was ripped from the dirt and then rocketed into the stratosphere. A self-described maker of “deep sea techno.”
Though Vestbirk is an accomplished DJ and producer with a crew around her (Apeiron Crew), she taught herself how to DJ and produce in a vacuum after she saw a female DJ play out at a club when she was 18 and realized she could do it too. Besides the music, she’s currently working toward a Master of Arts in Modern Culture, while also focusing on journalism.
9:00 PM – Vök (IS)
Vök is a young band that formed in early 2013. Shortly after forming they participated in and won the prestigious Icelandic battle of the bands, Músíktilraunir. Subsequently they recorded and released the EP “Tension” via Icelandic indie label Record Records. Vök recently signed to The Musebox Records and released their EP in America last October. Prior to forming Vök in February 2013, Margrét Rán and Andri Enoksson had been working together unofficially for quite some time. The third member, Ólafur Alexander, joined their ranks shortly afterwards and with that the line-up of Vök was completed. Vök has been generating a lot of hype in the vibrant music scene of Reykjavík. Their sound consists of dreamy electronics with melodic vocals and distant saxophones. Guitar also plays a prominent role in their sound, placing them further into the realm of indie electro. The trio is currently working on their debut LP set for a Spring 2015 release. Vök have been compared to the likes of The XX and The Knife.
10:00 PM – Fura (IS)
Haling from a small fishing village on the east coast of Iceland, Fura is a project combining the talents of vocalist Björt Sigfinnsdóttir and production duo Hallur Jónsson and Janus Rasmussen (Bloodgroup). The nucleus of their work explores the contrast between dark beats (from the male production team) and the heightened, sensual, female voice of Sigfinnsdóttir, while exuding the mystical nature of their home environment and the sense of isolation and emotion produced by its landscapes. In 2013 the group released their first single “Demons” and in early 2014 the second single “Poems of the past”. Their debut album is TBA.
11:00 PM – Carl Louis
Carl Louis grew up on an island outside of Oslo with the ocean as his closest neighbor. Stranded in the tempest and left to his own devices, it didn’t take long for this blue-eyed boy to catch up to his dreams of the world. Carl Louis started playing piano at an early age. His fascination for the ebony & ivory would later kindle his love for music production and mastering the art of DJ’ing. Living in New York, Carl Louis co-founded the successful duo CLMD, touring the world performing for crowds of thousands and getting playlisted by the likes of BBC1 and SiriusXM. Multiple singles also went platinum. However, in 2014, he chose to go solo, following his dreams of creating and performing more organic and transgressive electronica. “I’m fascinated by the unconventional,” he says, “inspired by the quirky, the catchy and, ultimately, those deep grooves that make you want to lose yourself in the night.” Without releasing a single record, Carl Louis has already received many offers from around the globe. Those attending by:Larm will be the first to witness his debut solo live appearance. If we choose to believe those who know what they’re talking about, this could be the start of something grand. 2015: Watch out for Norway’s new prince of electronica.
